COOKIE POLICY.

Last updated: 30 May 2026

This Cookie Policy explains what cookies and similar storage DunWivBooks uses, why we use them, and how you can control them. We use as few as we can get away with.

1. What are cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help websites remember things about your visit — like whether you’re signed in.

We also use localStorage (browser storage) for a few small things, like remembering your cookie consent choice.

2. What we use

Cookie / StorageTypePurposeDuration
Clerk session cookiesEssentialKeeps you signed in to your DunWivBooks account. Without it the site can’t work for members.Session / 30 days
dwb_cookie_consent (localStorage)EssentialRemembers your cookie consent choice so we don’t ask again on every visit.Indefinite
Vercel AnalyticsAnalyticsCounts page views and traffic sources. Cookie-less — no personal data, no cross-site tracking, no advertising profiles. No cookie
Affiliate trackingThird-partyWhen you click affiliate links (e.g. Hostelworld, Booking.com, GetYourGuide), those sites may set their own cookies to track the referral. We have no control over these.Set by third parties

3. Essential cookies

Essential cookies are necessary for the site to work. You can’t disable them without breaking core features like signing in. Under UK law these don’t require your consent.

4. Analytics

We use Vercel Analytics, which is privacy-friendly and cookie-less. It doesn’t track you across websites, doesn’t build advertising profiles, doesn’t share data with anyone. Because it doesn’t use cookies, it doesn’t require consent — but you can decline all non-essential analytics via the cookie banner if you’d rather.

5. Third-party affiliate cookies

DunWivBooks contains affiliate links to the services below. When you click these, you leave our site and the destination may set its own cookies under its own policy:

We are not responsible for the cookie practices of these third-party sites.

6. Your choices

You can manage your cookie preferences in several ways:

  • Cookie banner — choose Accept or Decline when you first visit
  • Browser settings — most browsers let you block or delete cookies. See your browser’s help docs

Note that blocking essential cookies will stop you signing in to your account.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
